- Google Books may link you off to Amazon, which could have excerpts, indexes, tables of contents (woo)
There are social-sciency-humanities-music-dance journals that aren’t on JSTOR, but that does’t make the universe seem any bigger.

If can forgive the theatre nerds (aged 50+) at the cafe for not being aware that Hunter S. Thompson is not primarily known for being a “famous literary critic,” maybe you can forgive me too. Goodness knows I need to read up.
Cited in Gregory, K 2005:
. . . [Vicky] Funari wonders if the organization of strip clubs and their actors, as a symbol of perversity, serves to “normalize” the “outside” world, or whether the commercial exchange simply mirrors societal norms. (Funari, 1997: 26)

My hero. Dan Savage doesn’t live to shop.

Yay.
Also recently, his Stranger piece on end-of-life issues (like euthanasia) tells the story of his mother’s passing.
(The Stranger allows comments to all articles, from its blog to columns to features, so ignore that stuff at the bottom and breathe easy.)
Bechdel alert

It’s dead easy to login and get Amazon reader to show you the whole chapter of State by State on Vermont by Alison Bechdel.
Also, The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For drops November 12, 2008. An apparently up-to-date collection, which means around 2 years of new strips, 12 pages of new material, but apparently NOT the bonus stories from the back of the 11 earlier books. Ex libris yourz truly, natch.
