An image this forum tells me is from The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book has some wisdom o’ th’ booze:
Recalling certain gentlemen of other days, who made of drinking one of the pleasures of life—not one of its evils; who achieved content long ere capacity was reached or overtaxed; and who, whatever they drank, proved able to carry it, keep their heads and remain gentlemen, even in their cups. Their example is commended to their posterity.
If only my content could be so easily achieved when my capacity is this overtaxed!

To have and to have not

Hearkening back to those Renunciations of 2007...
I have:
- a paid gig
- cut Scrabulous to a single game
- left my Facebook status message unchanged for over twelve milliseconds
- done actual schoolwork!
I have not:
- checked tfd or natalie-dee
- or cypher’s foodlog
No seriously, I am on the wagon.
But I’m dependent on:
- Savage, as always
- PostSecret (to a lesser extent)
- Textism (it’s back, with spare change)
- Some other thing I check so often I don’t even subscribe to it
- Mozilla Firefox, baby!
Oh yes, and:
- Close my Asian grocery and my health food store
- Cancel my grocery delivery service
- Send my organic veg delivery service to hell so I cancel it myself
- Move my cheese shop to High Street
- But Bechdel, don’t go on sabbatical to write another book. The strip is your finest work.

Taste education coordinator, report at 28 months. I am so very proud of my son, the veg and fruit guzzling health fiend.
Snacking at our usual Vietnamese place, we offered Isaac a bite of scallop (served on the half-shell topped with minced garlic, peppers and carrots). He likes trying new things (victory #1). He wasn’t to know what the tender, white, round thing was, as we refrained from characterizing it as anything in particular. He identified it thusly using only his senses: “Yummy fish.” Mama teared up.
Victory #2.

Nitpickety pedant here, rumours of her demise unfortunately not yet confirmed.
O ye professional writers, one is loath to point out a loathe for certain grammatical mistakes. I looked upon said near-archaism profaned within a blog, and I was wroth.
The usual disclaimers apply.
