We’re used to living at a northerly latitude from our time in the Netherlands; Edmonton summer evenings are endless and winter’s months are dark. When we change our clocks the weekend before Hallowe’en, we’ll be plunged into shadow.

Meanwhile, the last few flowers from the garden have been hanging on for weeks.
