There goes 3 July 2007, 12:39

I kinda like the new street signs in our neighbourhood. The design is kinda deco. The emblem of The Garneau is a large tree (notwithstanding its Métis history, signified by river valley trail graffiti reading “RIEL WAS HERE 1875”). Old trees are the sign of a good neighbourhood.

In fact, with these windy storms, our neighbour’s old tree smashed a lamp outside our place.

I also like how the signs mention the former Strathcona street names, before we sold out to The Man and got numbered. These names still appear on blue tags on some of the older corner houses.

I’m really enjoying our neighbourhood this season: sunny, green and leafy, it really shows off. It reminds me how short the season is.

What’s new in your neighbourhood?
