A few Fringe reviews:

***** Tyrannous Rex
Nicola Gunn is GREAT! This adept actor charms you with mime, playing a variety of 10 or so characters in this preposterous, comedic melodrama. She has you on the edge of your seat restraining the belly laughs so you don’t miss anything.

***1/2 Paper Son
Engaging biographical tale limited by the narrow range of its performance art nuances (perhaps inherent in a stand-up comic)

*** Who Nose? (Galli Group) [URL]
Sweetly naïve European reductionism packaged in very effective clowning

***** Medea (Eyewitness Theatre Company)
Brilliant performance and update of this Greek tragedy, rich with archaisms

** The Root of All Squares (Black Sheep Theatre)
Acting and message have all the subtlety of a swat in the head with a 2×4; soporific

***** Shylock
Very fine actor and strong text; it’s all the Merchant of Venice you’ll ever need

*** Kali & Cookies (Brainfrieze)
Great ingredients in this developing production. Separation of the two to three characters needs to be made more evident, and the monologue better annunciated

*** Tumulte des Flots (Isabelle Barbat)
Amazing dancer, athlete and voice don’t have full impact, due to loose collection of elements without a clear narrative. (Note: when she sings in Hebrew toward the square of light on the backdrop, she’s at the temple wall in Jerusalem, yo)

**** Eng-Ger-Land! (Screwed & Clued)
Insidiously good movement and storytelling in this feast for the footie-mad
